Kukkiwon Taekwondo demonstration team, advance to the third round of the US CBS contest program(The World’s Best)

It won the Spanish Fusion Flamenco performance team at the second round in ‘The World’s Best’.

The Kukkiwon Taekwondo demonstration team entered the championship round in the third round of the CBS contest program 'The World's Best.'

"Kukkiwon demonstration team confirmed the advancement of the third game after defeating Ross Bivanos, a Spanish male fusion flamenco performance team, at “the Battle Round of The World’s Best," said the Kukkiwon on March 5th.

'The World’s Best' is the 10 series program where famous performers from all over the world compete in the contest. The winning team will receive $1 million prize (about 1.1 billion won).

The team advanced to the third round after the first and second round while it was being broadcasting five times in February, including the first airing on March 3 (local time hereinafter).

The Kukkiwon demonstration team advanced to the second round with a score of 99 (100 out of 100) from the evaluation team in the first round. The 24 teams that passed the first round were divided into 12 teams, and in the second round they won 83 points, followed by the Ross Bivan course (59 points).

The demonstration team focused on the evaluation of the Taekwondo team in the second round by performing various performances such as Taekwondo basic motions, skill breaking, power breaking and Kyorugi(sparring).

The third round will be aired from March 6th.

국기원 태권도시범단, 미국 CBS 경연프로그램 3차전 진출

'더 월드 베스트' 2차전서 스페인 퓨전 플라멩코 공연팀 제쳐

국기원태권도시범단이 미국 방송 CBS의 경연프로그램 '더 월드 베스트'(The World's Best)'에서 3차전인 챔피언십 라운드에 진출했다.

국기원은 5일 "국기원시범단이 '더 월드 베스트' 2차전(배틀그라운드)에서 스페인 남성 퓨전 플라멩코 공연팀인 로스 비반코스를 제치고 3차전 진출을 확정 지었다"고 밝혔다.

'더 월드 베스트'는 세계 각국의 유명 공연 팀이 경연을 펼쳐 우승팀을 정하는 10부작 프로그램이다. 우승팀에는 상금 100만 달러(약 11억원)가 주어진다.

지난달 3일(이하 현지시간) 첫 방송을 포함해 2월에만 총 다섯 차례 방송된 가운데 1, 2차전을 치러 3차전 진출 팀을 가렸다. 

국기원시범단은 1차전에서 평가단으로부터 최고 점수인 99점(100점 만점)을 받아 2차전에 진출했다. 이어 1차전을 통과한 24개 팀이 12개 조로 나뉘어 조별로 대결한 2차전에서는 83점을 받아 로스 비반코스(59점)를 따돌렸다.

시범단은 2차전에서 태권도 기본동작과 기술격파, 위력격파, 겨루기 등 다채로운 구성으로 공연을 펼치며 평가단의 이목을 집중시켰다.

3차전은 6일부터 방송될 예정이다.
