Unanimous Consent on Appointing Dr.Oh No-kyun as The First Chairman.

On February 28, the Special Olympics Korea (Honorary Chairman Na Kyeong-won, Chairman Lee Yong-hoon, hereinafter SOK) held 2023 a regular board meeting and a general meeting at the meeting room on the 2nd floor of In Times In. In the meeting, Dr.Oh No-kyun was unanimously approved as the chairman of the Special Olympics Korea Taekwondo Commission (SOKTC).  

The SOKTC held an inaugural meeting on August 7, 2022. Upon receiving the general meeting’s resolution and approval from the SOK Performance Improvement Commission and board meeting, SOKTC has been founded as an official commission and registered as a national-level organization.

The SOKTC contributes to improving the performance by distributing Kukki Taekwondo to people with developmental disabilities at the organizational level and adopting the standardized game rules. In addition, SOKTC plans to develop an agenda make the Special Olympics International (SOI) adopt Taekwondo poomsae as the official game.  

As a part of 2023 plan, the SOKTC plans to boost the national branches, strengthen organization, hold SOK national contents, train instructors and referees, and empower thee abilities of executives. On upcoming June 9 to June 27, the SOKTC plans to send the executive groups to the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023. 

Chairman Oh of SOKTC said, “I would like to thank the central president and delegates for appointing me as the first chairman. I promise to sign MOU with the Korea Para Taekwondo Association to promote Taekwondo for people with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities.”

He also commented, “I also plan to organize a promotional group (task force team) for the expansion and globalization of the organization. I also plan to select official sponsors to secure financial stability as soon as possible.”  

The official inauguration of SOKTC together with Kukkiwon, Korea Taekwondo Association, and Korea Para Taekwondo Association will contribute on raising the status of South Korea as the country where Taekwondo has originated.

스페셜올림픽코리아(명예위원장 나경원. 위원장 이용훈, 이하 SOK)는 지난 2월 28일 인타임즈인 2층 회의실에서 2023 정기이사회 및 총회를 개최 했다. 이 자리에서 ‘SOK태권도위원회’와 위원장으로 오노균 박사를 만장일치로 설립및 승인했다.

‘SOK태권도위원회‘는 2022년 8월 7일 창립총회를 개최했고, 이후 스페셜올리픽코리아 경기력 향상위원회 및 이사회의 승인, 총회의결을 통해 정식종목별 위원회로 설립되어 전국단위 단체로 인정된 것이다.

한편, ’SOK태권도위원회‘는 국기 태권도를 발달 장애인들에게 조직적으로 보급하고 표준화된 경기룰 등을 통해 경기력 향상에 기여하게 된다. 또한 국제스페셜올림픽위원회(SOI)에 태권도품새 정식종목 채택을 위한 아젠더를 개발할 예정이다.

2023년 사업계획으로 전국 시도 지부 활성화와 조직을 강화, SOK전국대회개최, 지도자 및 심판교육, 임원 역량 강화사업 등을 펼쳐 나갈 예정이다. 또한 오는 6월 9일~27일 베를린에서 개최되는 세계하계스페셜올림픽대회에 임원단 등을 파견할 계획이다.

’SOK태권도위원회’ 오노균 위원장은 “여러 가지로 부족한 사람을 초대 위원장으로 인준해 준 중앙회장과 이사, 대의원들에게 감사드린다.”며 “대한 장애인태권도협회와도 업무협약(MOU)을 체결하여 지체 및 지적 발달 장애인들의 태권도진흥을 위해 힘을 보태겠다.”고 말했다.

오 위원장은 “전국조직 확대와 세계화를 위한 추진 기획단(T/F팀)을 구성하고 공식 후원기업를 선정하여 재정적 안정을 조속히 마련하겠다”고 말했다.

태권도 종주국에서 국기원과 대한태권도협회, 대한장애인태권도협회와 함께 스페셜올림픽코리아태권도위원회가 공식 출범하여 각각 기능의 전문화를 통해 태권도의 국기다움을 한층 더 높혔다는 평가이다.
