On the evening of the 15th, the inauguration ceremony for the 22nd (Unified 3rd) President of the Seongnam City Taekwondo Association was grandly held at the Seongnam Raonjena Hall. The event was attended by around 150 people, including outgoing President Choi Jae-goo, incoming President Lee Dae-ki, Asia Taekwondo Federation President Lee Kyu-seok, Gyeonggi Province Taekwondo Association President Kim Pyeong, Seongnam City Mayor Shin Sang-jin, and Seongnam City Sports Council President Lee Yong-ki, among various dignitaries from all walks of life.
The ceremony began with outgoing President Choi Jae-goo handing over the association flag to incoming President Lee Dae-ki. Following this, Mayor Shin Sang-jin, Sports Council President Lee Yong-ki, and City Council Chairman Lee Deok-soo delivered congratulatory speeches, emphasizing the importance of the Seongnam City Taekwondo program and its role in fostering local development and unity. Mayor Shin highlighted that the Seongnam Open International Taekwondo Championships have become a representative international event for Seongnam City and pledged that the city and council would work together to secure the necessary budget for this year's 12th tournament.
In his farewell address, outgoing President Choi shared his reflections on the association's operations and expressed gratitude for the achievements made during his tenure. Incoming President Lee Dae-ki, in his inaugural speech, stated, "It is a tremendous honor and a significant responsibility to take on the role of President of the Seongnam City Taekwondo Association. I am delighted that we can work together for the development of our association."
He emphasized that Taekwondo is not just a sport but a vital medium that realizes educational and social values. He vowed to continue the spirit of his predecessor, stating, "The Seongnam City Taekwondo Association will work to promote these values and fulfill various roles to contribute to the local community." He also announced, "The 12th Seongnam Open International Taekwondo Championships will be held on July 19. Last year, we had over 3,300 athletes from 23 countries and 10,000 officials and family members attending, but we faced budget constraints. This year, I ask for your support and interest to ensure that the event can successfully represent Seongnam City and elevate its status in the international community."
Following the speeches, the ceremony continued with the appointment of association executives, culminating in a group photo session that concluded the event in a warm and cheerful atmosphere.
Meanwhile, incoming President Lee Dae-ki is a graduate of the renowned Pungsaeng High School Taekwondo team and the Taekwondo Department at Yongin University, holding a 9th Dan certification from the Korea Taekwondo Association. Seongnam City, with a population of approximately 940,000, currently hosts over 150 specialized Taekwondo dojos. It is recognized as a representative future-oriented city of Korea, harmonizing advanced IT industries with traditional culture. The city plays a pivotal role in the Korean economy, supported by sustainable urban development and an innovative industrial ecosystem. With its lush green spaces, well-organized urban areas, and various cultural venues, Seongnam boasts a high degree of fiscal independence as a self-sufficient metropolitan city, earning recognition as a highly desirable place to live in Korea.
성남시 태권도협회 제22대(통합 3대) 회장 이취임식 성황리에 개최
지난 15일 오후 6시, 성남 라온제나 홀에서 성남시태권도협회의 제22대(통합 3대) 회장 이취임식이 성대하게 열렸다. 이날 행사에는 최재구 이임회장을 비롯해 이대기 취임회장, 아시아태권도연맹 이규석 회장, 경기도태권도협회 김평 회장, 성남시 신상진 시장, 성남시 체육회 이용기 회장 등 각계각층의 인사 150여 명이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다.

이날 행사는 최재구 이임회장이 협회기를 이대기 취임회장에게 전달하는 것으로 시작되었다. 이후 신상진 시장과 이용기 체육회장, 이덕수 시의회 의장이 차례로 축사를 하며 성남시 태권도의 발전과 협회의 중요성을 강조했다. 특히 신 시장은 "성남오픈 국제태권도대회가 성남시를 대표하는 국제 행사로 자리잡고 있으며, 지역 발전과 화합을 도모하는 데 큰 역할을 하고 있다"며 "올해 맞이하는 제12회 대회에는 시와 의회가 힘을 모아 예산 확충에 최대한 노력하겠다"고 밝혔다.
이어 최재구 이임회장은 이임사를 통해 그동안의 협회 운영에 대한 소회를 밝히며, 협회가 이룬 성과에 대해 감사의 뜻을 전했다. 이대기 신임회장은 취임사에서 "성남시태권도협회 회장직을 맡게 되어 무한한 영광과 동시에 막중한 책임감을 느낀다. 우리 협회의 발전을 위해 힘을 모을 수 있다는 점에서 매우 기쁘게 생각한다. 태권도가 단순한 스포츠를 넘어 교육적, 사회적 가치를 실현하는 중요한 매개체로 자리잡고 있다고 강조하며, "이임하시는 최재구 회장님으로부터 그동안의 정신을 이어받아 성남시협회는 그 가치를 널리 알리고 지역사회에 기여할 수 있는 다양한 역할을 수행할 것"이라고 다짐했다. 이 신임회장은 또한 "올해 제12회 성남오픈 국제태권도대회가 7월 19일 개최될 예정이다. 지난해 23개국에서 3,300여 명의 선수와 1만여 명의 임원 및 가족이 참석해 성황을 이루었지만, 예산 부족으로 어려움이 있었던 만큼 올해는 시 관계자분들이 시민과 함께하는 태권도 문화축제로서 대회를 성공적으로 치를 수 있도록 지원과 관심을 부탁드린다"고 역설했다.

이후 행사에서는 협회 임원 임명장 수여식이 진행되었으며, 참석자들은 기념사진 촬영을 통해 화기애애한 분위기 속에 행사를 마무리했다.
한편, 이대기 신임회장은 성남의 명문 풍생고 태권도부와 용인대학교 태권도학과 출신으로, 국기원 공인 9단 보유자이다. 성남시는 인구 94만여 명의 도시로, 현재 150여 개의 태권도 전문도장이 운영되고 있으며, IT 산업과 전통 문화가 조화를 이루는 대한민국의 대표적인 미래형 도시로 평가받고 있다. 성남시는 지속 가능한 도시 개발과 혁신적인 산업 생태계를 바탕으로, 대한민국 경제의 중추적인 역할을 하고 있으며, 전원의 푸르름과 잘 정돈된 도심 속에서 시민의 휴식공간과 다양한 문화공간이 조화를 이루고 있다. 높은 재정자립도를 자랑하는 성남시는 자족 기능을 갖춘 수도권 중심 도시로서, 누구나 살고 싶어하는 주거 만족도가 높은 대한민국 제일의 도시라는 평가를 받고 있다.
