국기원이 매년 주최하는 ‘2016 자랑스러운 태권도인 상’ 시상식이 성대히 마무리됐다.

국기원은 12월 9일(금) 11시 리츠칼튼호텔 그랜드볼룸에서 태권도 원로들과 17개 시도태권도협회 관계자 등 400여명이 참석한 가운데 ‘2016 자랑스러운 태권도인 상’ 시상식을 가졌다.

‘2016 자랑스러운 태권도인 상’은 포장과 포상으로 나뉘며 이교윤(87세) 국기원 원로와 박해만(84세) 前 국기원 시범단 단장이 국기장(포장)을 수훈했다.

포상은 4개 부문으로 나눠 지도자 부문은 김정록(80세) 국기원 태권도 9단 고단자회 회장이, 선수부문은 오혜리(28세) 리우올림픽 금메달리스트가, 경영부문은 김선수(53세) 시흥시태권도협회 회장이, 심사‧심판부문은 박경선(68세) 국기원 기술심의회 심판분과 위원장이 수상했다.

자랑스러운 태권도인 상은 국기원과 대한태권도협회, 각 국가태권도협회를 비롯한 태권도 단체들로부터 태권도 보급 및 발전에 공헌한 2명을 부문별로 추천받아 선정위원회의 심의를 거쳐 수상자를 선정한다.

포상을 수상한 김정록 회장은 “이렇게 큰 상을 받게 되어 매우 영광이다”며 “앞으로 태권도인으로서 사명감을 갖고 태권도 발전을 위해 더욱 노력하겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

이날 시상식은 심사시행 모범단체에 대한 시상도 함께 가져 17개 시도태권도협회가 공정하고 투명한 승품‧단 심사를 시행할 수 있도록 격려했다.

오현득 국기원 원장은 “이 자리를 통해 바람직한 태권도인 상을 정립할 수 있길 바란다”며 “국기원도 태권도인들의 공로를 발굴하고 가치를 제대로 평가받을 수 있도록 최선의 노력을 기울이겠다”고 피력했다.

최창신 대한태권도협회 회장은 “영국의 신대륙 개척자 윌리엄 펜이 미국에 필라델피아를 건설하고 펜실베이니아를 정비했다“며 ”태권도인들도 윌리엄 펜의 정신처럼 태권도의 훌륭한 발판을 마련하길 바란다“고 밝혔다.

김성태 태권도진흥재단 이사장은 “앞으로 여러분이 가진 태권도에 대한 애정과 관심이 많은 태권도인들의 귀감이 되어 태권도의 더 밝은 미래를 열어주기를 기원한다”고 밝혔다.

축하행사로 국기원태권도시범단의 공연과 미디어 매직쇼를 선보여 참석자들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.

‘자랑스러운 태권도인 상’은 태권도 보급과 발전에 공헌한 인사들을 선정하여 태권도인의 자긍심을 높이고, 세계태권도본부로써 태권도인들의 화합과 친목을 도모하고자 국기원에서 2007년 처음 제정하여 2015년부터 제도화됐다.

Successful Hosting of‘2016 THE AWARD FOR A PROUD TAEKWONDO’ Awards by Kukkiwon

Lee Gyo-yun and Park Hae-man Received National Spirit Commendation, While Kim Jeong-rok, Oh Hye-ri, Kim Seon-su, and Park Gyeong-seon Each Received a Prize.

The awards ceremony for ‘2016 THE AWARD FOR A PROUD TAEKWONDO’, which is hosted by Kukkiwon (President OH Hyun Deuk) every year, has been successfully completed.

Kukkiwon held ‘2016 THE AWARD FOR A PROUD TAEKWONDO’ at the Grand Ballroom of Ritz-Carlton Hotel at 11:00am on December 9th(Fri), with over 400 people in attendance, including Taekwondo elders and relevant personnel from 17 city and provincial Taekwondo Associations.

‘2016 THE AWARD FOR A PROUD TAEKWONDO’ is divided into commendations and prizes, and Kukkiwon elder Lee Gyo-yun (87 years old) and former Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team Leader Park Hae-man (84 years old) received commendations.

Prizes are divided into 4 fields. In the Leader Field, President Kim Jeong-rok (80 years old) of 9thHigh Dan Holder Association received the prize; in the Athlete Field, the Rio Olympics gold medalist Oh Hye-ri (28 years old) received the prize; in the Management Field, President Kim Seon-su (53 years old) of Siheung City Taekwondo Association received the prize; and in Judges & Evaluation Field, Chairman of the Judge Subcommittee of the Kukkiwon Technical Committee Park Gyeong-seon (68 years old) received the prize.

The prize winners of ‘THE AWARD FOR A PROUD TAEKWONDO’ are selected through the following process: First, recommendations for 2 nominees from each field, who have contributed to the distribution and development of Taekwondo, are received from Kukkiwon, Korea Taekwondo Association, Taekwondo Associations of each country, and other Taekwondo organizations. Then, after deliberation by the Selection Committee, the final winners are decided.

President Kim Jeong-rok, who received a prize, said in his award acceptance speech that “I am honored to have received such a huge award. I will try even harder for the development of Taekwondo with a sense of duty as a Taekwondo practitioner.”

During the award ceremony, awards for model organizations, which carry out deliberations, were also handed out to encourage fair and transparent implementation of Poom & Dan Promotion Tests by the 17 city and provincial Taekwondo Associations.

Kukkiwon President OH Hyun Deuk expressed his opinions, saying, “Using this as an opportunity, I hope that desirable Taekwondo practitioner awards can be established,” adding that “Kukkiwon will do our best to find the contributions of Taekwondo practitioners and make sure that their values are evaluated properly.”

President Choi Chang-Shin of Korea Taekwondo Association announced, “William Penn, a new continent pioneer of Great Britain, built Philadelphia in the USA and organized Pennsylvania“, and added, “I hope that Taekwondo practitioners will have the spirit of William Penn and establish an excellent foothold for Taekwondo.“

Taekwondo Promotion Foundation Chairman Kim Sung Tae said, “I hope that your affection and interest in Taekwondo will be a model for many Taekwondo practitioners to open up a brighter future for Taekwondo.“

For the celebration event, the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team’s performance and media magic show were presented and drew huge response from the audience.

‘THE AWARD FOR A PROUD TAEKWONDO’ is an award that selects people who have contributed to the distribution and development of Taekwondo to raise the pride of Taekwondo practitioners and aim for harmony and friendship among the Taekwondo practitioners as the World Taekwondo Headquarters. The award was first established in 2007 by Kukkiwon, and was systemized in 2015.
