The triple world champion and Olympic bronze Tae-hun Kim (KOR) added another gold to his large collection after climbing to the top of the podium at the first ever Men’s -58 kg Grand Slam, held today in Wuxi, China. The other title of the day was taken by another world champion: Irem Yaman from Turkey, who proved to be the strongest athlete in the Women’s -57 kg after gettind rid of the division’s superstar Jade Jones (GBR) in her first match.

Kim clinched gold after outscoring his compatriot and team mate Jang by a comfortable 37-16 in the final. The king of the Men’s -58 kg category was always in charge of the fight, managing the pace and always under control of the time. The bronze medal was awarded to Mikhail Artamonov from Russia, who was the best in the repechage for the last step of the podium after defeating the local hope, Wu, by a clear 26-16.

Yaman was crowned as the Grand Slam champion after an extremely tough and close battle against another local idol, Zhou, who didn’t give up until the extra period, which ended 2-0 for the Turkish. Yaman had to prove herself in front of the superstar of the category, the double Olympic champion Jade Jones (GBR), in the first round of the draw, but was able to go through after winning over the Brit by superiority after a tie to 5.

The lower step of the podium was taken by another Chinese representative, Zongshi Luo, who was way better than Ah-reum Lee from Korea in the bronze medal match (33-10).

                           2017 우시 월드 태권도 그랜드슬램 네 번째 대회

김태훈 태권도 남자 -58Kg 최강자 다시 한번 증명 고교생 장준 은메달 차지

김태훈(수원시청)이 남자 -58Kg에서 다시 한번 적수가 없음을 증명하며 태권도 왕중왕전에 도우승을 차지했다.

한국 선수끼리 맞붙은 결승전에서 김태훈은 '2016 캐나다 버나비 청소년선수권대회' -51Kg 우승자인 장준(홍성고)을 꺾고 상금 7만 불을 손에 쥐었다.

지난해 11월 열린 그랜드슬램 선발전에서 우승을 차지해 이번 대회 출전 자격을 얻은 장준은 8강과 준결승에서 몽골과 중국 선수를 차례로 이기고 결승에 올랐다. 결승에서 김태훈을 상대로 값진 은메달을 차지한 장준은 경기 시작전 김태훈에게 크게 머리 숙여 인사하는 모습을 보였다.

김태훈은 결승전 2분 5회전 동안 다양한 공격을 성공시키며, 37대 16 큰 점수차로 이기고 그랜드슬램 네 번째 시리즈 우승자로 등극했다.

김태훈은 "5회전 경기에 대비해 체력적으로 더 보강할 생각이다"라고 말하며 "오늘 경기에 부모님이 오셨는데 우승을 하게되어 더욱 기쁘다"고 우승 소감을 전했다.

20일(현지시각), 중국 우시에서 2017 세계태권도연맹(WT) 월드태권도그랜드슬램 챔피언스 시리즈 네 번째 대회가 열린 가운데 김태훈과 터키의 이렘 야만(Irem Yaman)이 남녀 각각 우승을 차지했다.

여자 -57Kg의 강자 영국의 제이드 존스는 8강에서 터키의 신예 이렘 야만에게 덜미를 잡혔다. 이 기세를 몰아 이렘은 결승에서 중국의 리준 쥬(Lijun Zhou)를 상대로 골든포인트까지 가는 치열한 접전끝에 우승을 차지하며 새로운 별의 탄생을 알렸다.  

남자 -58Kg 급 동메달은 러시아의 미카일 아르타모노프(Mikhail Artamonov)가 올랐고, 여자 -57Kg 급 3위는 동메달 결정전에서 이아름을 33:10으로 이긴 중국의 종쉬 루(Zongshi Luo)가 차지했다.

27일에는 같은 장소에서 남녀 단체전과 혼성전 경기가 열린다.

남자팀은 이란, 러시아, 한국, 중국과 여자는 중국, 한국이 참가한다. 혼성팀은 중국과 러시아가 출전한다.
