Following that, the 2018 World Taekwondo Junior Championships will feature 10 female and 10 male weight categories for teenagers aged 15-17, meaning competitors have to from Jan. 1, 2001 to Dec. 31, 2003. The event takes place from April 9-13.

The World Taekwondo Junior Championships were first held in Barcelona, Spain, in 1996; the 2018 tournament is the 12th edition and it is first time for Tunisia to hold the World Taekwondo Junior Championships.

This year, 962 athletes are participating, representing 120 countries.

Both competitions take place at the La Salle Couverte Hammamet, in the Tunisian seaside resort.

Also in Hammamet, a WT Council Meeting will take place on April 4, while a WT General Assembly will be held on April 5, and will vote on amended rules for 2018. If the amendments are passed by the Assembly, the new rules will be implemented at the Rome 2018 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Series in June, 2018.
