Report

The final day of the thrilling World Taekwondo World Cup Team Championships in Wuxi, saw China, Korea and Russia claim gold in the women’s, men’s and mixed gender categories respectively.

The home fans were treated to an all Chinese final in the women’s team category as the two Chinese teams faced each other following victories over Korea and Morocco in the semi-finals. It was China’s first team (China 1) who claimed a 24-18 victory in the final. Both teams knew each other’s tactics very well, which meant the scores stayed relatively low until the second round where the match began to open up as the sides attacked more aggressively. In the end it was China’s first team who claimed the $40,000 prize. Morocco and Korea won the bronze medals.

In the men’s category, Korea overcame China’s first team (China 1) to claim a 68-56 victory in a very open and fast-paced match. It was China who started brighter as they took a narrow 18-14 lead into the second round, but the ever impressive Namgoong Hwan turned the match on its head with a skilful head kick and Korea did not look back after that. China 2 and Iran won the bronze medals.

Russia claimed the world tile in the mixed gender category by overcoming China by a margin of 58-40 points. The Russian side was spearheaded by the aggressive Kadyrbech Daurov whose impressive kicks were too strong for the tiring Chinese side. Korea and Cote D’Ivoire took home the bronze medals.

All three winning teams across the three categories will take home $40,000 in prize money along with their world title.

WT 월드컵팀챔피언십, 한국 남자 대표팀 우승, 여자 및 혼성 팀은 동메달 획득

29일 현지시각 중국 우시 타이후 인터내셔널 엑스포 센터(Wuxi Taihu International Expo Centre)에서 열린 '2018 우시 월드태권도월드컵팀챔피언십'에서 한국 남자 대표 팀이 우승을 차지했다.

인교돈(한국가스공사), 박지민(용인대학교), 남궁환(한국체육대학교), 장준(홍성고등학교), 신동윤(삼성에스원태권도단)으로 구성된 한국 남자 단체팀은 결승에서 남궁환의 빠른 발차기를 앞세워 중국 1팀을 접전 끝에68대 56으로 꺾고 우승해 상금 4만 불을 획득했다.

서소영(서울시청), 김보미(수성구청), 문지수(춘천시청), 명미나(경희대학교), 윤정연(인천광역시동구청)으로 팀을 이뤄 그룹 B조 1위로 예선을 통과한 한국 여자 대표 팀은 준결승에서 A조 2위로 올라온 중국 2팀에게 49대 29로 패하고 동메달을 가져갔다.

혼성 단체팀(박지민, 남궁환, 서소영, 명미나)은 동메달 결정전에서 모로코에 39대 23 여유있게 승리하고 동메달을 획득했다.

이로써 한국 대표 팀은 남자단체전에서 금메달과 상금 4만 불, 여자 단체전 및 혼성 단체전에서 각각 동메달과 상금 5천 불씩을 가져갔다.

대회 마지막 날 남자 단체전에서 한국이 우승, 준우승은 중국 1팀이  중국 2팀과 이란이 각각 동메달을 차지했다.

여자 단체전은 중국 1팀이 우승, 중국 2팀 준우승, 한국과 모로코가 각각 3위에 이름을 올렸다.

혼성 단체전에서는 러시아가 금메달, 중국이 은메달, 한국과 코트디부아르가 동메달을 가져갔다.
