Gyeong Gi-Do Taekwondo Association Leads in Expelling COVID-19!
Great Attention from Taekwondo Fields…. Parents Express Their Thankfulness to Gyeong Gi-Do Taekwondo Association
Gyeong Gi-Do Taekwondo Association (President G.M Kim Gyung-duk, hereinafter GTA) held “2021 Gyeonggi-do Taekwondo Competition (Gyeorugi, Poomsae) and 1st Match for 50th National Junior Sports Festival Gyeonggi-do Athelete” at Han Seok Bong Gym from March 31 to April 4th.
In the competition hosted by GTA and jointly sponsored with Gapyeong Taekwondo Association, there were total of 1,200 people including 900 Gyeorugi participants and 300 Poomsae participants.
The competition had a huge significant meaning in many aspects. Since COVID-19 situation isn’t over yet, it was important to finish this competition successfully to hold the next national competition.

In response, GTA thoroughly complied with the quarantine measures and Taekwondo field commented that the competition applied additional quarantine measures for the Taekwondo matches and finished the competition successfully.

GTA President G.M Kim Gyung-duk said :
"Due to COVID-19, whole Taekwondo fields couldn’t hold Taekwondo competitions. In response, we decided to hold this competition by complying with COVID-19 quarantine guidelines thoroughly, having all athletes and staff get COVID-19 test (PCR), and having matches with less than 50 athletes who were tested negative for the social distancing. I hope that other Taekwondo competitions will continue after this competition. A lot of Taekwondo teams actually broke up due to current situation.
Since athletes and instructors are daunted, we plan to hold competitions continuously by complying with the quarantine guidelines."

Could you explain about quarantine guidelines?

"All athletes, parents, instructors, and staff can participate and enter the gym after getting a negative COVID-19 test result. Also, they are required to suggest negative COVID-19 test result before entering the gym."
Gapyeong Taekwondo Association President Chae Gwang-byeong said:
"I’d like to thank Gapyeong-gun authorities for helping in holding the competition successfully. I especially feel thankful for President Kim Gyeong-duk of Gyeong Gi-Do Taekwondo Association. The competition is getting attention from all around the country and we are trying our best to hold the competition successfully.
I sincerely hope for positive results from this opportunity and I also hope that Taekwondo competitions will be held again in other regions, too. I am running a Taekwondo school myself and I am going through a tough time. So, I can’t wait to see the synergy effect for all Taekwondoins after this competition."

Were there any difficulties in preparing the competition?

Gapyeong Taekwondo Association President Chae Gwang-byeong said:
"We were hugely concerned about whether the competition might lead to more COVID-19 cases in Gapyeong region.
So, Gyeong Gi-Do Taekwondo Association is holding the competition under thorough quarantine guidelines and all people are allowed to enter the gym after getting a negative COVID-19 test result. The competition went smoothly until yesterday. However, it’s raining today and the athletes may feel bit of confusion. The competition is going smoothly and the last Poomsae competition will be held later.
For the competition, Gapyeong-gun Community Health Center and athletic committee are helping on disinfection. As you just saw, we are disinfecting the gym after 50 minutes of matches. Since we are thoroughly prepared for COVID-19 prevention, I believe the competition will finish successfully. Thank you."

"This competition is the athletic competition and trial for National Junior Sports Festival. Since we are still under COVID-19 situation, we are holding this competition by complying with the quarantine measures thoroughly. Why do you think about the headgear?

"As you can see, the athletes are using a special headgear. Although the athletes might feel uncomfortable, we had to think about COVID-19 prevention. That’s why we are using that headgear to comply with quarantine guidelines during the match."

Parents said:
"I feel thankful to GTA for preparing this competition in this tough time. I also feel thankful for all staff that arranged this competition while keeping the quarantine guidelines. I hope that there will be more Taekwondo competitions for our children. GTA is the best!"

전국 태권도계 비상한 관심...
학부모, "경기도태권도협회 너무 감사하다"
경기도태권도협회(회장 김경덕,이하 GTA)는 지난 3월 31일~4월 4일까지, 경기도 가평군 한석봉체육관에서 ‘2021년 경기도종별태권도대회(겨루기 품새) 겸 제50회 전국소년체육대회 경기도 대표 1차 선발전’을 개최했다.
GTA가 주최하고, 가평군태권도협회와 공동주관하는 이번 대회에 겨루기 900여 명, 품새 300여 명 등 총 1200여 명이 참가했다.
이번 대회는 여러면에서 상징적 의미가 컸다. 코로나 19가 종식 되지 않은 현 사회적 상황에서 이번 대회가 무사히 끝나야만 전국에서 다음 대회를 개최할 수 있는 초석을 세우는 것이기 때문이다.
이에 GTA는 철처한 방역 수칙을 지키며 또한, 더욱이 태권도경기에 맞는 방역을 보충하며 선도적 성공적인 대회를 마쳤다는 태권도계 평이다.
WTU 리포터:안녕하세요? WTU 뉴스 프랑스에서 온 로즈 기자입니다. 우선 대회가 성공적으로 잘 치러 되기를 기원드립니다.
이번 대회 준비 하시느라고 고생 많으셨는데요. 한 말씀 부탁드립니다?
김경덕 GTA 회장:
"코로나 사태로 인해 대한민국의 태권도계 전체가 이런 대회를 못 하고 있습니다. 그러나 코로나 방역 수칙을 철저히 하고, 선수나 임원 등 모든 사람들이 코로나 19 검사(PCR)를 받고, 음성 판정을 받은 사람들 한해서 사회적 거리두기 수칙인 50명 미만 만이 경기자에 입장하며 오늘도 경기를 진행하고 있는데요 이런 것이 좋은 선행이 되서 대한민국 전체가 경기를 계속 진행되기를 기대하면서 현재 팀 해체가 된 곳이 많아요.
이로 인해 선수와 지도자들이 위축되어 있는데 우리가 방역 수칙을 철저히 지키면서 계속 대회를 치르려고 합니다."
리포터: 방역 수칙은 무엇인가요?
김평 GTA 전무이사:
"참가하는 선수들, 학부형, 지도자, 임원 등 모두들 코로나 19 검사를 받고 무증상 판정을 받아야 출전할 수 있고 경기장에 들어 올수 있어요. 그리고 경기장에 들어오려면 코로나 19 음성판정을 받은 확인을 하고 있어요."
채광병 가평군 태권도협회장 인터뷰:
"우선 저희가 대회를 성공적으로 치룰 수 있게 도와주신 가평군 관계부서에 감사드립니다. 특히 이번 대회를 치를 수 있도록 경기도태권도협회 김경덕 회장님께도 감사드립니다. 그리고 이번 대회는 전국에서 주목을 받고 있는데요, 이 대회가 성공적으로 치러 질 수 있도록 최선을 다하고 있습니다.
그래서 이번 기회를 통해서 긍정적인 요소가 생기길 바라면서 이로 인해서 전국에 있는 태권도 대회가 모든 지역에서 다시 열리기를 기대합니다. 저도 태권도장을 운영하고 있지만 너무 어려운 처지에 있습니다. 그래서 이번 대회를 통해 모든 태권도인 들에게 시너지 효과가 나타나기를 기대합니다."
리포터? 이번 대회 준비하면서 어려운 점은 무엇인가요?
채광병 가평군 태권도협회장:
"가장 어려운 점은 혹시라도 이번 대회가 가평 지역의 코라나 확산에 기폭제가 될까 큰 걱정이었습니다.
그래서 경기도태권도협회에서는 이번대회 모든 관계자들에게 음성 판정을 받은 사람만 들어오게끔 철저히 지키며 진행하고 있습니다. 어제까지는 대회가 그런대로 잘 진행되었지만 오늘 비가 와서 선수들이 조금 혼잡할 수도 있습니다. 그래도 잘 넘기고 있고 내일 품새 경기가 남았습니다.
모든 대회 관계자들이 끝까지 특히 가평군 보건소나 체육회에서 방역을 철저히 하도록 도와주고 있습니다. 조금 전에도 보았지만 50분 경기를 하고 나서. 매번 전 경기를 방역 소독 하고 있습니다. 저희는 이렇게 철저히 준비 하면서 이번 대회가 잘 끝날 것으로 생각합니다. 감사합니다."
박수현 기술심의회 부의장:
"이번 경기도태권도협회 대회는 종별선수권대회와 전국 소년체육대회 선발전인데요. 코로나 시국 이잖아요? 방역 수칙을 철저히 지키면서 이번 대회를 치르게 된 겁니다. 먼저 이렇게 경기도태권도협회에서 대회를 진행하는 것을 정말 자부심을 느끼고 있습니다. 내일까지 경기가 있는데요. 끝까지 방역을 잘하면서 성공적인 대회를 위해서 노력하고 있습니다."
리포터: 헤드기어를 어떻게 보세요?
박수현 :
"보시는 거와 같이 특수한 헤드기어를 사용하고 있는데요. 물론 선수들이 힘들겠지요. 방역을 생각하지 않을 수 없기 때문에, 이렇게 방역을 철저히 지키면서 경기를 치르고 있는 겁니다."
리포터: 학부형님 이번 대회를 어떻게 생각하세요?
삼리 초등학교 이아영 선수 어머니:
"너무 어려운 시대에 이번 대회를 준비해 주신 경기도태권도협회에 깊은 감사의 말씀을 드립니다. 방역을 너무 철저히 지키면서 대회를 준비해 주신 모든 임원들에게 도요. 너무 감사드리고요. 우리 아이들을 위해서 이런 대회가 빨리 활성화되었으면 좋겠습니다. 경기도태권도협회 최고입니다.
