Lee Kyung-bae, the current Council member of the Asian Taekwondo Union , will try again... Attention is paid to the right person to lead the development of Taekwondo in Asia

Lee Kyung-bae, the current ATU Council member of the Asian Taekwondo  Union (ATU), who will be held in Kuching, Malaysia on the 24th, is trying again, drawing keen attention. Candidate Lee is expressing his ambition, saying, "Based on his leadership, international network, and contributions to the development of Asian Taekwondo, I will win re-election and further accelerate the development of Asian Taekwondo."

Candidate Lee's major history and achievements are evaluated as a person who combines extensive experience and in-depth expertise in the taekwondo world. He has established a theoretical foundation by earning a master's degree in sports and leisure studies from the Korea Sports University, and has contributed to the spread and promotion of Taekwondo.

In addition, Lee has developed numerous national teams and outstanding players during his tenure as the head coach of Korea's top prestigious Pungsaeng High School, recognized by others, and said, "I will do my best for the development of the Asian Taekwondo Union, but I will especially share my Taekwondo skills and tactics with the leaders of each country who want to have them." In fact, Lee is also the one who raised Choi Young-seok, the coach of world-class Thai Taekwondo.

Lee stands out as the current president of the Korean Federation of Middle and High School Taekwondo. Since his election as chairman in 2021, he has been praised for his contribution to establishing a systematic fostering system to discover outstanding Taekwondo dreamers and establishing a culture of Taekwondo game management that is advanced to the level of international competitions. In recognition of his hard work and contribution, he became the first solo candidate for the 50-year history of the Korean Junior and High School Taekwondo Federation in November 2024, winning a second term without voting, proving his strong support.

As an official pledge, we will continue to contribute to the development of Asian Taekwondo by closely cooperating with Taekwondo organizations in Asia. In particular, we will strive to lay the foundation for the future of Asian Taekwondo by introducing various programs to revitalize youth Taekwondo and strengthen the capabilities of judges and leaders.

In addition, with the aim of strengthening the Asian Taekwondo youth player development system, the goal is to expand the support program so that youth Taekwondo players across Asia can get opportunities for systematic training and growth based on their experience as president of the Korean Middle and High School Taekwondo Federation.

24일 말레시아 쿠칭에서 열리는 아시아태권도연맹(ATU) 이경배 현 ATU집행위원이 재도전하며 이목이 집중되고 있다. 이 후보는 "그동안 쌓아온 리더십과 국제적인 네트워크, 그리고 아시아 태권도 발전에 기여해온 공로를 바탕으로 재선에 성공해 아시아 태권도 발전에 더욱 박차를 가하겠다"는 포부를 밝히고 있다.

이 후보의 주요 이력 및 업적을 보면, 태권도계에서 폭넓은 경험과 깊이 있는 전문성을 겸비한 인물로 평가받는다. 한국체육대학교에서 스포츠레저학 석사 학위를 취득하며 이론적 기반을 다졌고, 태권도의 보급과 진흥에 기여하고 있다.

또한, 이 후보는 자타가 인정하는 한국 최고의 명문  풍생 고등학교 태권도부 감독으로 재임시, 수많은 국가대표, 우수선수  등을 키워냈고 "아시아태권도유니온의 발전을 위해 최선을 다하겠지만 특히 자신이 갖고 있는 태권도 기술과 전술을 원하는 국가별 지도자들에게는 최대한 공유하겠다" 고 밝혔다 실지 이후보는 세계적인 태국태권도의 최영석 감독을 키워낸 장본인 이기도 하다.

이 후보는 현 한국중고등학교태권도연맹 회장으로서 그의 업적은 두드러진다. 2021년 회장으로 당선된 이래, 그는 우수 태권도 꿈나무 발굴을 위한 체계적인 육성 시스템을 구축하고 국제대회 수준으로 선진화된 태권도 경기 운영 문화를 정착시키는 데 기여했다는 평가를 받는다. 이러한 노고와 공로를 인정받아 그는 지난 2024년 11월, 한국중고등학교태권도연맹 50년사에 최초로 단독 입후보하여 무투표로 연임에 성공하며 확고한 지지를 입증했다. 

공식공약으로는 아시아 각국의 태권도 단체들과 긴밀하게 협력하며 아시아 태권도 발전에 꾸준히 기여할것이고. 특히, 유소년 태권도 활성화와 심판 및 지도자 역량 강화를 위한 다양한 프로그램 도입하며 아시아 태권도의 미래를 위한 기반을 다지는 데 힘쓰겠다.

또한, 아시아 태권도 유소년 선수 육성 시스템 강화를 목표로 한국중고등학교태권도연맹 회장으로서 쌓은 경험을 바탕으로 아시아 전역의 유소년 태권도 선수들이 체계적인 훈련과 성장의 기회를 얻을 수 있도록 지원 프로그램을 확대 한다는 목표다.
