the entrancecere monyon this day,AAU Taekwondo Association President Bobby Stone,Georgia American-Korean Sports Association Director Kown Yo-han,about 50 first-time students and some of their famili esparticipated to congratulate the opening of the Taekwondo Department and declare a new start.

조지아 센트럴 대학교(GCU, 총장 김창환)가 미국 정부로부터 미주 지역 최초로 인가 받은 '스포츠 사이언스-태권도학과'의 입학식을 11월 18일 오전 10시 본교 체플실에서 유희덕 교수의 사회로 1부 예배와 2부 수잔권,강동녘의 사회로 2부 본 행사가 거행됐다. 

이날 입학식에는 축하하기 위해 AAU 태권도협회장 바비스톤, 권요한 조지아 재미 대한체육회 이사, 50여명의 1회 입학생들과 일부 가족들이 참여해 태권도학과 개설을 축하하고 새로운 출발을 선포했다. 

이날 황영사에서 김창환 총장은 "우리 대학의 태권도학과는 태권도를 매개로 미국과 전세계로 GCU 스포츠정신, 복음을 증거하는 도구가 될 것이다. 글로벌 시대의 중심이 되는 대학으로 앞으로의 30년 300년의 더 높은 도약을 꿈꾸는 미약한 시작을 창대케 하시는 하나님을 믿으며 나가자고 환영사를 전했다. 

이날 입학식에는 한국의 국기원 세계 태권도 본부 이동섭 원장은 "국기원도 한미 문화 교류 증진을 위해 본 대학에 적극적인 지원을 약속한다"고 영상으로 축하했다. 대한민국 김운용스포츠위원회 최재춘 위원장, 그리고 대한태권도협회 양진방 회장, 태권도 올림픽 챔프 이대훈 선수의 영상 축하가 있었다. 

이날 GCU 태권도 대학을 책임지고 이끌어 나갈 조직위원들에게 임명장도 수여 됐다. 고문 이재규, 정의황 관장, 박동근 뉴저지, 김정길 캘리포니아, 두 명이 참석해 임명장을 받았고, 유타의 권진용 조직위원장, 조지아 양복선 사무총장, 뉴저지 권진황 기획 위원장, 오하이오 최승옥 여성분과위원장, Tach Nguyen 행사위원장 밀피타스, 최창익(Lion Choi) 실리콘벨리 이사로 선임되면서 임명장을 받았다. 

조지아센트럴대학교는 이날 오전 입학식을 마치고, 오후에는 첫 수업을 진행했다.
