– A global celebration of Traditional Taekwondo to take place July 17–19 at Anaheim Convention Center

The 2025 Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Hanmadang, hosted by the Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters), will be held from July 17 (Thursday) to 19 (Saturday), 2025 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, USA.

Unlike sport competition-focused events, the Hanmadang is a non-combative, martial arts-centered festival that highlights individual growth, philosophy, and fellowship. Events will include various divisions such as:

▲ Recognized, Traditional, and Creative Poomsae

▲ Power and Specialty Breaking

▲ Team Demonstrations

▲ Taekwondo Aerobics

▲ Self-defense Techniques

▲ Para Taekwondo and more.

The venue, Anaheim Convention Center, is the largest exhibition facility on the U.S. West Coast. Located adjacent to the Disneyland Resort, it offers outstanding accessibility, accommodation, and tourism infrastructure, making it an ideal location for a global Taekwondo event.

A highlight of the festival will be a special performance by the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team, known for showcasing Taekwondo’s artistry and Korean culture across over 120 countries since its founding in 1974.

Through this Hanmadang, Kukkiwon aims to:

• Restore the essence of martial arts Taekwondo

• Strengthen international exchange among practitioners

• Establish global standards and educational systems

• Promote balanced development between sport and martial arts Taekwondo

• Expand Taekwondo participation and revitalize local dojangs (training halls)

Organizers emphasized that the Hanmadang is not the event of one individual or group, but a festival for all Taekwondo practitioners around the world—a shared journey of change, growth, and unity.

– 무도 태권도의 진수를 알릴 글로벌 축제, 애너하임 컨벤션센터에서 7월 17~19일 열려

세계태권도본부 국기원이 주최하는 글로벌 태권도 축제 세계태권도한마당이 오는 7월 17일(목)부터 19일(토)까지 미국 캘리포니아 애너하임 컨벤션센터에서 열린다.

한마당은 겨루기 없는 무도 중심의 종합 태권도 경연대회로, ▲공인·전통·창작 품새 ▲격파(손날·옆차기·높이뛰기 등) ▲시범 ▲태권체조 ▲호신술 ▲장애인 태권도 등 다양한 종목이 펼쳐진다. 이번 대회는 경쟁보다 자기 성장과 철학 실천, 수련자 간 교류에 중점을 두고 기획됐다.

특히 대회 장소인 애너하임 컨벤션센터는 미국 서부 최대 규모의 복합 전시장으로, 디즈니랜드 리조트 인근에 위치해 국제적 접근성과 숙박·관광 인프라가 우수해 글로벌 행사를 치르기에 최적의 환경으로 평가받고 있다.

대회 기간 중에는 전 세계 120여 개국에서 공연 경험을 지닌 국기원 태권도 시범단의 특별 공연도 예정돼 있어, 태권도의 예술성과 한국 문화를 함께 선보일 예정이다.
